Gabrielle Heard: Cacophony

  • March 21, 2018

From the artist:

Cacophony chronicles the individual experiences of people of color, from the American Deep South through Southern Ontario, as they negotiate identity formation within, around, and in spite of white privilege. Their experiences are rated on an avant-garde “Privilege Scale.” Through video and audio installation, the artist brings to light the intersections between marginalization and representation, always, always surrounded by the physical embodiment of privilege.

Gabrielle Heard is an MFA candidate and Arthur A. Schomburg Fellow at the University at Buffalo. Her documentary work uses emerging technology to elevate the voices of marginalized people.
